Israel has about 29 types of wild orchids growing in many of the country's regions. From the mount Hermon and mount Miron in the north of Israel though the Carmel the Negev in the south. Unlike their tropical-domesticated counterparts, wild Orchids are smaller and usually has a bulb-shaped roots or rhizome. They show up in winter and flower in early spring. After the flowering period they dry up and go into a dormant mode waiting for next winter's rain, to spring back into life. There unique shape and colors, particularly there ability to imitate insects in their color and shape, makes them fascinating in my mind. This is gallery is still incomplete I hope next year I will be able to complete the gallery as my interest and knowledge grows together with my photography skills…
